Synclectic Media's Comprehensive Suite of Services Equip You for Success!
As a new author, you might not realize how much work goes into publishing each book.
Every book is different, but the editing, publishing and marketing process is usually very similar across all publishing companies - large and small. Behind the scenes, we operate like a factory doing first things first, as we move your book through the pipeline. By operating as a niche company dedicated to new authors and self-help books, we've been able to build important synergies along the way. We've also mastered what it takes to be successful in this genre, so you're in good hands.
Below, we explain what each step takes and the responsibilities we'll cover for you, so you'll be knowledgeable and ready when we begin your book's journey.
Editing – This is the most crucial stage of any published book. If you publish your book with grammar, spelling and content mistakes, you'll be eaten alive by online reviews and your sales will immediately plummet. Every great book has an experienced editor behind it; shouldn't yours have one too?
All of our books go through two major editorial review processes and a galley proof review:
Registration – Synclectic covers all the bases. We handle all the details to make sure your book is properly registered and protected by the ISBN Agency, the Library of Congress, and the U.S. Copyright Office.
Interior Design & Cover – We professionally prepare the interior of your book for print and eBook formats. We use our keen sense of design and marketing knowledge to create a unique cover for each book to fit with its content and genre.
Publishing – We utilize and highly recommend the print-on-demand (POD) method of publishing for authors. This allows us to publish your book in paperback without requiring a large upfront capital investment. Your book will also be published in eBook format for Kindle, iPad, Nook and others.
Imprint - All books published with us are granted permission to use the Synclectic Media logo and name as publisher of record, which carries the prestige and respectability of an established and branded book company.
Book Pricing - We allow you to set and control the list price of your book, so long as it fits withing printing and distribution cost parameters and other limitations that may be set by our distribution partners.
Distribution - All of our print books are distributed through Ingram Content Group, the largest wholesale book distributor in the world. We also distribute through Baker & Taylor and Amazon Direct. This will make your book available on Amazon.com, and nationwide through traditional book retailers including Barnes & Noble, independent bookstores, internet booksellers, and other retailers and outlets where books are sold. All eBooks through Kindle, iPad and Nook are put into worldwide distribution through their various electronic networks.
Marketing – We give you marketing guidance and support to assist you in promoting and selling your new book. This includes helping you develop your author platform and targeting your message to the right niche segment. We'll work with you to create, revise and execute your book's marketing plan to achieve your goals.
Marketing support includes content guidance and editing of your author profile and book's catalog description.
Another marketing perk is membership in our exclusive Facebook Authors’ Community, available to Synclectic authors only, where we regularly post helpful hints and links for authors, and encourage authors to network with each other.
All authors also receive three MBA-level marketing strategy consultations with our Strategy Coach. These are strategically placed throughout our process so you'll have time to reflect and build your marketing strategy and author platform over time: the first one is prior to the editing process, the second is at the beginning of the publishing process, and the final one is about six months after your book is published.
Ongoing Author Coaching - After your book is published, you are welcome to contact our Author Coach who will further help guide you with promoting, marketing and selling your book. The Author Coach can help you find contacts for speaking engagements/book signings, steer you on the right path to obtain book reviews, and assist you with developing your author platform and brand.
Ongoing Administrative Support - All post-publication administrative support is covered. This includes list price changes, obtaining sales figures, payment of author royalties, and all other costs incurred to keep your book in print.

All of our books go through two major editorial review processes and a galley proof review:
- Substantive Editing: Your book will first go through this deeper editing process where the content of your book is heavily scrutinized for possible errors, content mistakes and readability. If your book contains a story, we will also analyze and comment on your plot, story arc and character development.
- Copy Editing: After substantive editing is completed, your manuscript is evaluated for spelling, grammar and typos. Corrections are made and tracked to allow you to see what changes have been made.
- Galley Proof Review: After all major editing is complete and the interior and cover designs are finalized, galley proofs will be ordered for you and your editor. This gives both you and the editor one last chance to find and fix any errant mistakes, typos or formatting issues before your book is placed into distribution.
